Lisa Hoppe's YSOP - Refined, profound, playful
Lisa Hoppe's YSOP - Refined, profound, playful
Jazz - Lisa Hoppe’s YSOP doesn’t just blur musical boundaries—it gleefully shatters them with wit, curiosity, and a fearless sense of play. From jazz clubs to rock stages, choir rehearsals to playgrounds, their sonic landscape is as surprising as it is emotionally resonant. The current program, Songs about Healing, explores themes of loss, vulnerability, and resilience with poetic sensitivity and vibrant ensemble interplay. It asks: Where is our musical home?
The answer lies somewhere between a Tel Aviv kitchen, a Berlin city park, and a New York backroom—a cultural in-between space, shaped by diverse influences and lived experience. With technical mastery and stylistic openness, the five musicians shape a sound that moves freely between free improvisation, contemporary jazz, and chamber-like textures. Every voice is distinct, every note deeply intentional. From jazz-inflected Marseille to Bern, Tel Aviv, and Berlin, YSOP creates music that is imaginative, finely crafted, and deeply human.

Chris Wiesendanger Solo - Focused, multilayered, resonant
Chris Wiesendanger Solo - Focused, multilayered, resonant
Jazz - It all begins in silence. Chris Wiesendanger sits at the piano, and from a place of complete stillness, music unfolds that is both delicate and full of energy. Polyphonic lines overlap, rhythmic patterns shift and evolve, while open spaces and quiet moments expand like a breathing sonic fabric. This music is rooted in presence—its energy transforms, resonates, and eventually dissolves into silence. Deeply grounded in jazz piano and blues, infused with classical and contemporary music, Japanese traditions, and electronic experimentation, Wiesendanger’s solo performances are sound meditations—explorations of texture, gesture, and the inner workings of the instrument.
Wiesendanger began playing by ear at the age of three. By sixteen, he had formed his first professional band; later came studies at Juilliard in New York and performances with legends like Carmen McRae, Lester Bowie, and Michael Brecker. Today, he moves fluidly between international festivals, experimental ensembles, and long-standing trios, always driven by curiosity and a deep commitment to sonic discovery. Today he is professor at ZHdK Zürich and HSLU Luzern.

Fräulein Luise - Narrative, moving, honest
Fräulein Luise - Narrative, moving, honest
Indie - Fräulein Luise craft songs that go straight to the heart—sometimes joyful, sometimes melancholic, always full of groove and emotion. This young band from Zurich blends societal themes and personal stories into a vibrant sound that spans indie, pop, rock, and everything in between. Their lyrics, often in Swiss German or High German, are direct and sincere, carried by lush vocal harmonies and melodic, driving basslines.
Since their surprise win at Band-it ZH in 2021, the quartet has carved out a unique place in the Swiss music scene. Festival stages like Gurtenfestival and OpenAir St. Gallen, support shows for acts like Wanda, Steiner & Madlaina, and Von Wegen Lisbeth, and their debut EP Kleine Freiheit have all marked important milestones. Currently working on their debut album set for release in 2026, Fräulein Luise are four close friends with one shared dream—and this journey is just beginning.

A Taste of Austria – Vorarlberg Comes to Zurich
Culinary arts - When Michael Garcia-Lopez cooks at the Krone in Hittisau (Vorarlberg, Austria), alpine roots meet modern clarity. Completely unplugged, he serves what the region has to offer – with a deep commitment to sustainability. Vegetables from the village, whole-animal butchery, and flavors straight from the Bregenzerwald. At his table, you don’t just taste the ingredients – you taste the philosophy behind them.
In early May, Michael Garcia-Lopez will be visiting Zurich’s historic Old Town to join culinary forces with Rechberg 1837 for a special four-hands dinner. Three of the courses will be created by Carlos Navarro, the founder of Rechberg and a pioneer of sustainable cuisine in Zurich. What unites these two chefs is their uncompromising focus on quality, provenance, and the future of food. Together, they will craft a menu that not only nourishes but inspires.

This pan-Alpine culinary experience will be complemented by rich insights into the food culture of Vorarlberg – featuring stories of craftsmanship, origin, and flavor. Here, food is not just served – it is celebrated.

AKKU Quintet - Hypnotic, rhythmic, visionary
AKKU Quintet - Hypnotic, rhythmic, visionary
Jazz - The Bern-based AKKU Quintet crafts a sound that bridges minimal jazz, post-rock, and electronic textures—repetitive and driving, yet always open to new sonic depths. Led by drummer and composer Manuel Pasquinelli, repetition becomes a dramaturgical tool that stretches time and expands space. Their fifth studio album Kinema dives even deeper into this aesthetic: multilayered, intense, and full of internal motion.
Live, music and visuals merge into an immersive experience, expanding the sonic landscape into something cinematic and absorbing. With international tours, five acclaimed albums, and the Bernese Music Prize under their belt, AKKU Quintet remains one of the most forward-thinking voices in experimental jazz.
